Hotel El Porvenir San Blas
If you’re short on time (or cash) and looking for a quick, friendly, getaway El Porvenir may be a suitable option. Located on one of the islands with an ‘airport’ El Porvenir offers a proper, albeit somewhat basic and well-worn, hotel with clean sheets, private bathrooms, running water, flush toilets and proper showers.
A portion of the island features a long soccer-pitch length field which serves as the landing-strip for the one plane that lands here each morning. Its quite a site to watch, if you’re up early enough to watch the approach and landing. The island spotlessly clean, has some size to it suitable for nice walks, and it sports a white-sand beach to watch the carved out wooden boats and sail boats come and go.
Traditional, but very basic Kuna meals are served three times a day in the dining room while over at the bar you’ll find an assortment of cold beverages and warm spirits for your enjoyment.
El Porvenir is close to some of the top San Blas island attractions such as Isla Perros and Chichme, both which feature some of the best coral reefs in the San Blas archipelago. Talk to Otilia and her husband who run El Porvenier with a handful of warm, friendly, characters. They’ll help facilitate the included daily tours or give you suggestions on some of the premium tours.

How To Get There
The road to San Blas through the densely forested jungle highlands of Panama can only be negotiated by licensed 4×4 transporters. The Kuna Yala will not allow any other vehicles to enter carrying foreigners, thus the only way to to get to Hotel El Porvenir is with the 4×4 vehicles that leave Panama City daily between 5am and 6am. The drive is approx 2.5hrs, depending on road and weather conditions. The 4×4 transporters can hold up to 7 passengers, it can be a squeeze at times and we advise all clients only to take a small bag containing what they need for their stay in the San Blas.
Currently El Porvenir Airport is closed for renovations and all the other airports are much further south in the island chain and cannot be used to get Hotel El Porvenir.
